Our Story

Micks Branded pies established in 1990 have grown to
become one of the most recognised baking brands
throughout the Australian baking industry. The business has
produced, innovated and created some of the best bakery
products in Australia for over 26 years and continues to work
closely with clientele to produce innovative products to suit
current trends and its consumers.

The original brand Micks Bakehouse was success story of
Michael Di Salvatore who, at the age of fourteen, started
helping out in the bakery in his parent’s supermarket in
Leeton, a country town based in regional New South Wales,
where his passion for baking quickly developed.

Michael went on to develop his skills and continued to enter
baking competitions, and in 1998 won First Place in the
Sydney Royal Champion Pie event for his plain meat pie.
Since then, Mick’s Branded Pies has been the most
distinguished competitor in two of Australia’s most
prestigious bakery competitions, “The Great Aussie Pie
Competition” and the “Sydney Royal Fine Food Show”.

Our Awards

We have received many accolades including
(but not limited to) – which we are proud of:

  • Five-time winner of Australia’s “Best Gourmet Pie”;
  • Official winner of “Australia’s best pie”
    in both 2009 and 2010;
  • Eight-time winner of the
    Sydney Royal “Champion Gourmet Pie”;
  • Sixth-time winner of the Sydney Royal “Champion Pie”;
    and (1998,2003,2008,2009,2011,2012)
  • Inaugural Winner of the
    Great Aussie Pastie Competition.(2001)
  • Inaugural winner
    Sydney Royal Champion Savoury Pastry 2015

Altogether we have received over 150 gold medals from the
Great Aussie Competition as well as 35 category titles and
50 gold medals from the Sydney Royal
For Pies and Savoury products.

Since 2012, the founder of Mick’s Bakehouse, Michael, has
been an honorary senior judge in the Great Aussie pie competition
for the plain pie category – the most prestigious
event in Australia for a pie maker. (And has retired from competing
at this event)


Micks Bakery now focuses on delivering high quality Baked
goods, while the core products are savoury (pies, quiches,
sausage rolls, frittatas) it also produces a range of Banana
breads (also the only Current Gold medal winner at Sydney
Royal fine food show -2015) as well as a range of Christmas
lines and other seasonal products and has the flexibility to
make products most larger manufacturers
don’t or won’t make

The wholesale business situated in Moorebank in Sydney’s
South west close to the M5 which is great for distribution all
over Sydney with links to transport for delivery interstate the
ACT and all over NSW.

We now distribute to David Jones, Aussie Farmers Direct,
Trippas white group, Royal Agricultural Society of NSW
–Sydney Showground, Capitol chilled Foods Canberra, Bob
and Pete’s Yum, Chrysler Café Group , Wenty Leagues Club
as well as several Boutique Bakeries and Private label and
contract manufacturing.
